My name is Lisa Marie Bennett and I am a technology teacher in Lewisville, Texas. I teach Kindergarten through fifth grade at Independence Elementary school. I see every student once a week. We explore technology in my classroom through iPads, Windows laptops, MacBook Airs, and the students' own devices that they bring to school.
Over a year ago, I saw a video demonstrating Google Glass. Being a technology teacher and loving new gadgets, I was intrigued. Then, last December, a teacher I follow on Twitter, Drew Minock, received an invitation to beta test Google Glass. I immediately knew I wanted it in my classroom, too! He sent me the link to sign up, and a month later Google sent me a personalized invitation to test Google Glass.
I spent the next three months fundraising money for the Glass through Donors Choose. With the help of both parents from my school and generous donors around the country, I was able to raise the $1500 to buy the Google Glass to use in my classroom.
